Away to the Dynamo

After the disappointment of FA Trophy exit at Lincoln United midweek it’s the classic concentrate on the league for Diamonds this weekend as they travel to Loughborough Dynamo.

It’s a 5th away game in the last 6 for the Diamonds faithful who will be heading up the M1 again after visits to Spalding, Stocksbridge, Rugby and Lincoln all since the beginning of November.

That FA Trophy defeat was a first reverse in 11 games for Diamonds since the FA Cup exit at Hendon back at the beginning of October. Since that earlier cup defeat diamonds have gone win, win, draw, win, win, draw in the league to make up ground on the top 6.

They sit third in the “last 6” form guide incredibly alongside Belper Town who have gone six games unbeaten since Diamonds won 4-1 in Derbyshire back in October. Makes me think back to that opening day defeat at not particularly impressive Newcastle Town who now find themselves top of the league!!

Injuries and suspensions took their toll for the games at Rugby and Lincoln where Diamonds hadn’t looked as commanding as in that 6 game form run. With Nabil Shariff and Brad Harris returning from suspension this Saturday and Lewis Wilson available after being cup-tied Diamonds will certainly be stronger.

Liam Dolman and Jack Ashton will probably have to wait at least another week before returning, but Tom Lorraine could come into the reckoning after his recent illness.

Loughborough are on a really poor run of form themselves having started the season fairly well they then lost 9 out of 10 to slide down into the bottom four. They beat Rugby Town 3-2 at home recently to give them hope of a recovery but have lost the last two games 2-0 at home to Leek Town and by the same score at Stamford.

Early wins against Lincoln United and Sheffield and a draw against Carlton Town are the only other games to have produce points at home for the Dynamo who are one of just two sides averaging under 100 attendances this season.

The Diamonds faithful will travel in the hope of seeing the usual post cup setback victory and Radio Diamonds will be there to bring you all the action if you can’t make the game.
